Aperture: The bigger the aperture (smaller the number), the more light goes through the lens, brightens up the picture and unsharpens the background; depending on the camera it’s more or less limited; e.g. f/3.5 – f/36
Shutter speed: The longer the time, the longer is the light able to go through the lens and to brighten up the picture, but it increases the liability for jittery edges; e.g. 30″ – 1/6000 in seconds
ISO-Sensitivity: The bigger the number, the more sensitive is the taking and the better the light can brighten up the picture, but increases image noise; e.g. ISO 100 – ISO 1600
Flash: With a flash the picture is better illuminated but bright areas become brighter and darker areas become darker and creates harder shadows.
Focus: Defines the image section and influences the maximal and the minimal aperture; there are prime lenses (one focus) and zoom lenses (adjustable focus). Smaller focuses (16-35mm) are wide-angle lenses, bigger focuses (90-800mm) are telephoto lenses. 50mm is a normal lens.

Brennweite: Bestimmt den Bildausschnitt und beeinflusst die Maximal- und Minimalöffnung der Blende; es gibt feste Objektive (eine Brennweite) und Zoom-Objektive (variable Brennweite). Kleinere Brennweiten (16-35mm) sind Weitwinkel-Objektive, größere Brennweiten (90-800mm) sind Teleobjektive. 50mm ist ein Normalobjektiv.
